Upkeep — Privacy Policy

Home · This page

Last updated: 20 September 2026

Upkeep is built by Appesto. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your information. It is short because the app collects almost nothing.

1. Your vehicle data stays on your device

Every vehicle, service record, maintenance plan, photo, note and mileage reading you enter is stored only on your device. We have no servers holding it, no account system, and no cloud sync. We cannot see your data, and neither can anyone else.

Because of this, your data is not backed up anywhere unless you export it yourself using Backup & restore. If you delete the app or lose your device, the data goes with it.

2. What we receive, and only when you choose to send it

The app makes one kind of network request, and only when you tap Send on a feedback or problem report in Settings › Help us improve. That report contains:

  • the message you typed, and the star rating if you gave one
  • the email address you enter, so we can reply
  • your app version, device model, operating system version, language and time zone
  • the number of vehicles and records you have (counts only)
  • for a problem report, the technical details of the most recent error, including the error message and where in the app it happened

A report never includes your vehicle names, registrations, service records, notes, costs, workshops or photos.

If you never send a report, the app never sends anything anywhere.

3. How reports are handled

Feedback reports are delivered to a Google Form and stored in a private Google Sheet that only Appesto can access. Google processes this data as our service provider; see Google’s privacy policy.

We use your email address only to reply to you about the report you sent. We do not add it to a mailing list, and we do not share or sell it.

Reports are kept for as long as they are useful for fixing problems and improving the app. To have a report deleted, email us at the address in section 10 and mention the date you sent it.

4. Camera and photos

Camera access is used for one feature: photographing your odometer so the app can read the number instead of you typing it. The recognition happens entirely on your device, and the photo is not uploaded or stored by us.

Photo library access is used only to attach a picture to a vehicle or a receipt to a service record. Those images stay on your device.

5. Notifications

Maintenance reminders are scheduled locally on your device by the app itself. They are not push notifications, nothing is sent through our servers, and we do not know when or whether one is shown.

6. No tracking, no advertising, no analytics

Upkeep contains no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect an advertising identifier, and the app never asks to track you across other apps or websites.

7. Children

Upkeep is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The only personal information we ever receive is an email address a person deliberately types in to get a reply.

8. Your rights

Because your vehicle data never leaves your device, you already have complete control of it: you can edit or delete any record in the app, and Settings › Delete all app data removes everything permanently.

For anything you sent us in a feedback report, you can ask us to provide a copy of it or delete it by emailing the address below.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
