What is Upkeep

Track your vehicle's maintenance without handing your data to anyone.

Upkeep is a vehicle maintenance tracker that keeps every service record, plan and reminder for your cars on your phone — with no account, no cloud sync, and no data collection. You add your vehicles, log the work as it happens, and Upkeep works out what’s due next from both the calendar and your mileage, then reminds you before it becomes a problem.

Every competitor is a cloud service: sign up, hand over your vehicle data, hope the company stays in business. Upkeep is the opposite — your service history lives on your phone and nowhere else. That is the product.

Recurring services roll forward from when the work was actually done, not from the old due date, so a late service doesn’t push the next one early. Mileage is projected from your own driving trend, so due dates stay accurate without you updating the odometer constantly. Everything works fully offline, and a complete backup is always one tap away as a plain JSON file you control. Free, with no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.

  • Your garage

    Multiple vehicles, each with make, model, year, registration, fuel type, VIN and a photo — or a built-in illustration by vehicle type. A colour-coded health score per vehicle: green in great shape, amber checkup soon, red needs attention. Mileage in km or miles, per vehicle.

  • Service records

    Log service, repairs, oil changes and fluid work — multiple jobs per record, with one-tap suggestions for common work. Cost, mileage, workshop, phone numbers, notes and photo attachments, and a full history per vehicle, filterable by type.

  • Planning and reminders

    Plan work by date, by mileage, or both — whichever comes first. Local notifications at a time you choose, with a per-plan lead time, and a privacy option to hide vehicle and job names on the lock screen.

  • Odometer scanning

    Photograph the dashboard and Upkeep reads the odometer for you. On-device OCR — the photo never leaves the phone. It never saves a reading on its own: it fills in the number for you to confirm, and says plainly when it isn't sure.

  • Backup and restore

    Export everything to a JSON file you control, and import to restore with a preview of what will change before you commit. A recovery copy of the previous state is kept, so a mistaken restore can be undone — plus periodic reminders to back up.

    Three text sizes throughout, screen-reader labels on every control, and an app that works fully offline — no connection needed for anything except sending optional feedback.

  1. Add your vehicles

    Make, model, year, registration, fuel type, VIN and a photo — or a built-in illustration. Set mileage in km or miles per vehicle. Only a name is required.

  2. Log the work

    Tap + to record a service with one-tap suggestions for common jobs, or plan future work by date, by mileage, or both.

  3. Get reminded

    The Upcoming view shows work due across every vehicle, and local notifications arrive at a time you choose — before it becomes a problem.
